Reforestation in Africa has been an issue of concern for C4C Founder Brenya Twumasi and her brother Arnoldus since they were teenagers living in Ghana. They witnessed the southward advancing of the Sahara desert, and the effect it was having on the inhabitants of the affected regions of Africa, as well as the impact on climate, water, vegetation, and livestock. They also researched how desert areas in the eastern Mediterranean area were able to reclaim desert lands and transform them into fertile grounds through reforestation and irrigation. Since that time they have been studying ways in which to halt the advancing Sahara desert and transform the affected regions of Africa in the same way. Therefore, this new project in Africa is a hopeful development, and one in which C4C will be participating.
